Power dressing

Power dressing can be enjoyed to the maximum this season and those that have a high-powered job need not be the only ones to dress in such attire.  Think cap sleeved offer to dinner dresses, thigh high tan leather boots, and statement mini satchels in rich shades and uber sophisticated driving gloves in leather luxe.

Team the above with a statement post box red lip shade and an uber embellished floral necklace, which looks like it has been unearthed from your Grandma’s attic!

Other pieces to watch out for include tailored lengthy jackets that skim the floor.  Some even cinched in at the waist with a super tight belt.  The more extravagant pieces housed fur collars that are certain to keep away that winter chill.

Add a touch of 50’s flair to your look for an instant style edge and keep your face looking fresh and add a little English Rose edge to the mix.

A pair of great boots are a must have, opt for a mid heel as these will be more versatile, especially when it comes to contending with a walk to the office or the tube.  They will also look equally as good tucked over trousers or alternatively teamed with a dress.  The thing to think about when it comes to dressing for this season is not to be scared!

Wear the new hued blushers for this winter just under the cheekbone in order to create a look that screams ‘I have just stepped into the chill’ yet still effortlessly beautiful!

Interview dressing

Dressing to impress can be difficult and the choice of dress should most definitely depend on the occasion.  An interview for example requires a dress that style that screams confidence but not too much, looks effortlessly stylish and is smart enough for the position you are applying for.

Never go for something over the top and in your face as this can put the interviewer in an awkward and make them feel a little intimidated.  Don’t get above your station, you are applying for a job you have most likely never worked in before, you shouldn’t therefore dress like you are the boss!

There are some great accessories available that work to make you look super professional such as smart laptop or document case.  This great for keeping all your work related belongings safe.  Not only will such an item keep you looking in the know, it will also allow you to clutch onto something in the waiting room instead of nervously twitching.

Take a few style notes from the hit TV show Madmen and invest in a statement patent leather satchel, a chic statement bag will hold all your work needs safely!

A great trench coat is the perfect jacket for now, its not too warm yet will keep any summer drizzle off your suit.

A cute easy to slip on dress is a must for those days that you simply need to get up and go!  Either wear with bare legs or opaque tights, don either heels or flats and you are good to go!

Make sure you play the gamine

Think Audrey Hepburn, Audrey Tautou and Natalie Portman in the Black Swan and this is what you should be aiming for this year if you want to be ahead in the fashion stakes!

Wide eyes, intensely strong brows and flawless skin are the three key things to work at if you wish to work this look.  Audrey Hepburn;s signature and sophisticated look is certainly on trend for this year and has been seen donning an array of models on the catwalk this year!

Bold brows are a must and in order to create such a look you should brush the brows upwards in order to establish their natural shape.  Fill in any noticeable gaps with an eybrow pencil in the same shade as your eyebrow colour.

The MAC impeccable Brow Pencil is a great option and can be found at an array of beauty counters nationwide.  The MAC pencil is priced at £11.50 and is a must if you wish to create a strong set of brows for the new season!

The idea behind this is to create a thicket shape across the whole of the brows so don’t be scared to apply a lot of colour to your own.

Apply a brow powder over the top in order to soften the shape a little such as the Clarins Pro Palette Eyebrow Kit.  This is priced at £31.50 and is available from an array of department stores and beauty counters nationwide.

Lips, eyes and cheeks

Make-up fashions this season are huge and it is all about trying out a few different colours and hues.

Team your eyes to your accessories and you will certainly cause a statement!  Blus are big this year and a bright hue looks great with brunette hair.

When using a lot of colour on the eyes make sure you keep the complexion fresh as otherwise you run the risk of looking like a drag queen!

Fashion is about to revolutionise your Friday night style in a big way.  Opt for a striking look as appose to an over the top and overpowering style.  Keep it all soft and pretty instead of harsh if you want this style to stay in trend for this season.

Skip the base and instead apply a cover product under the eyes.  Blend colours such as baby blue and purple on the upper eyes and continue these shades along the lower lashes.

Add a slick of peach lip gloss to the pout and pull the hair back into a high and loose up-do.

If you feel the whole ensemble is a little on the pale, add a little bronzer to the cheeks and nose, basically where the sun naturally hits in order to give a natural look!

Blue hues really bring out blue eyes and make them pop!
